Image-recognition app helps people spot fashion trends and find similar items more easily.
ASAP54 is a digital platform that uses photos instead of keywords to help people find must-have fashion pieces that they’ve spotted in the real world or online. Users can upload a pictured item, have it scanned by the app, and wait for results that are similar to what they are looking for.
The app’s designer Daniela Cecílio understands that technology can sometimes falter, so that is why she added a human element to help users locate desired items. Stylists are available to provide advice whenever a search doesn’t return satisfactory results. But when results are favorable, users can purchase the item directly through the app from partnering retailers, like Barneys and Topshop.
Searches can be filtered by price or brand, and prove to be a steadfast way for people to locate items that are no longer on the market. As the app grows in popularity, Cecílio hopes its social stream will become a source of fashion inspiration, where people can browse and share finds instantly.
The app is free to download, and is only compatible with iOS devices.
