Clothing that shield wireless communications force you to focus on real life.

It’s easier than ever to engage with people over the Internet via smartphones and tablets, but it’s also much more difficult to have a face-to-face conversation with someone using them. Japanese fashion designer Kunihiko Morinaga has come up with a solution, clothing that shields electromagnetic waves to protect us from “the storm of information” we experience on a daily basis.

In the same way that outdoor clothing is designed to protect you from rain and wind, the Focus collection protects you from the virtual world. This means that if you’re wearing some of Morinaga’s clothing when someone tries to call, they will get a “Sorry, the number you have dialed is not available” message.

The fashion line, which made its debut during Toronto Fashion Week, was part of a collaboration between Morinaga, PARTY, AID-DCC and Trident. You can hear more about Morinaga’s thought process, and see a demonstration of the clothing, in the video below.
