Airline Offers On-Board Hotel Rooms For First Class Passengers
Etihad Airways is installing private multi-room cabins with a living room, bedroom, ensuite bathroom, and a dedicated butler.
Traveling is fun but long flights can be quite taxing. Fortunately, some airlines are trying to make flights a nice and comfortable experience for their customers.
Abu Dhabi-based company Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, took that kind of service up a notch with a new offering for their Business Class travelers.
Etihad Airways announced that they will be installing private multi-room cabins on their Airbus A380. The private cabins are meant to give Etihad’s travelers a place to “work, rest, and play.”
The private cabin, called The Residence, are designed for a single traveler or two guests who are traveling together and include a living room, a separate double bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, and a dedicated Savoy Academy-trained butler who ensures everything is in place for the travelers.
The cabins will be installed in the forward upper deck of the plane and will cover 125 square feet of space, enough space for Etihad’s Business Class travelers to relax, maybe finish a bit of work, and enjoy their long flights. The Residence will have mobile and WiFi access for its guests.
The rooms are designed by some of the best interior designers and experts in hospitality and are meant to provide every bit of privacy, comfort, and convenience to guests.
The bedroom includes a double bed furnished with luxurious fabrics, Egyptian cotton sheets, and high quality pillows. The living room has a leather double-seat sofa with an ottoman, two dining tables, a cabinet for chilled drinks, and a 32-inch TV. The hallway leading towards the ensuite bathroom is fully carpeted and the bathroom has all the necessities it should have, such as a shower, toiletries, and even bathrobes for guests.
Aside from the trained butler, travelers who book The Residence also get the opportunity to sample gourmet meals or custom dishes prepared by an inflight chef.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, said,
These new living spaces will raise inflight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers’ expectations of inflight comfort and luxury forever.
