During the 2014 New York Auto Show, Ford marked the 50th anniversary of the Mustang. Five decades of continual production of a car model is a rare achievement. Ford is releasing a limited edition 50th Anniversary Mustang which 1,964 will be made. There’s likely going to be a flood of Mustang related merchandise commemorating the anniversary. Female owners looking for an extra personal way to connect with their Mustangs can get nail polish colors inspired by the pony car.

OPI has partnered with Ford to produce a limited edition collection of six new nail lacquer colors; Race Red, 50 Years of Style, Queen of the Road, Girls Love Ponies, Angel with a Leadfoot and The Sky’s My Limit. The colors aren’t direct copies of Ford factory hues but Race Red gets pretty close to a near match of Mustang red. OPI hosted a popup nail bar at the NY auto show for women, and yes there were a few men who wanted to test drive the colors.

While the timing of the 50th anniversary is special, OPI has produced a line of Mustang inspired colors for Ford before. The last collection was released back in 2005. The new OPI Mustang collection will go on sale starting in July of 2014.
