Chefs Coach Foodies On New Recipes Via WhatsApp

WhatsCook teaches people how to cook with mayonnaise in real time using the chat app.

Mayonnaise brand Hellmann’s and ad agency CUBOCC worked together to create WhatsCook, a live recipe service that lets users chat with real chefs or an expert cooking team and learn how to prepare meals in real time using the WhatsApp chat.

Users just have to send their number via WhatsCook’s website and a specialized cooking team gets in touch with them to find out when they need help with. After setting a schedule they can then chat via WhatsApp and start cooking.

Aside from chatting, the recipe service also takes advantage of photos, mini-videos, and voice messages to help the user cook what he wants. The sound of the incoming message also serves as the timer to take something out of the oven.

Users can request for any type of dish – be it a meal that takes about an hour to prepare or a dish that only takes a few minutes. Users can send the WhatsCook team a photo of his fridge with the available ingredients he has and the team can help him come up with a recipe. The one catch to it is that all the recipes will include mayonnaise.

WhatsCook’s cooking team and chefs are available from Monday to Friday, between 12 noon and 2 PM for lunch and between 7 and 10 PM for dinner. Users cannot request for other coaching schedules outside of the allotted time.

Interested users don’t need professional cooking experience or what not to avail of the service but the WhatsCook team prefers that they have at least some experience in cooking and know how to prepare simple things like rice.

WhatsCook creates a great alternative to browsing through cookbooks or watching cooking videos to learn how to prepare delicious meals, and it does this through two-way communication on a platform that a lot of people are already familiar with.

WhatsCook also highlights how Hellman’s comes up with creative campaigns to help people learn more ways to enjoy their mayonnaise. Last year, the brand came out with the Recipe Cart, which was also created in collaboration with CUBOCC and featured a shopping cart that recognized the ingredients around it and suggested recipes that included those ingredients and, of course, mayonnaise.
