Microsoft jumps on the selfie-phone bandwagon with two new high-pixel devices
Selfie aficionados will now have some great options when it comes to selecting a smartphone with two new Windows Phone 8.1 handsets.
Stephen Elop, the former Nokia CEO who now runs Microsoft’s devices business, showed off the phone in front of thousands at the company’s annual employee meeting in Seattle last month. One of the phones is the same code name “Superman” phone that was talked about back in April and dubbed the best phone for selfies.
Now it’s here, but what do we know about the two new selfie phones?
We know that there are two phones, “Superman” and “Tesla”. The “Superman” will have a 5-megapixel forward-facing camera and 4.7-inch display, while “Tesla,” which recently appeared in leaked images, is being described as an “affordable high-end phone” with a PureView camera. This assures consumers that the PureView camera will come down to lower price point products.
Microsoft is stepping up their game not only in the smartphone market, but, Microsoft’s Jo Harlow reveals in an internal memo that the company is planning to launch “other high-end products…very soon.” Equally as exciting for Microsoft fans is the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 to be available to developers and device makers shortly, an update that includes hardware and feature improvements ready for new devices. We can also expect to see other phone makers jump on the bandwagon, like HTC who is reportedly planning to launch a Windows Phone version of its One M8 this month on Verizon.
