Target is launching a new section in stores that features a selection of smart baby products. The Connected Nursery introduces parents to internet-enabled items designed to help make parents’ lives easier and offer them peace of mind. The dedicated area is now available in around 450 Target locations across the country, with prices for products ranging from $19.99 to $199.99.

To find out about the kind of technologies that would be helpful for families, Target representatives spent some time observing family routines and talking to parents. They discovered that they wanted items for reliable health monitoring, temperature tracking, and comforting babies. Earlier this year, Target hosted a demo day to discover innovative new baby products. Amanda Nusz, vice president of Kids and Baby at Target, said in an article:

“We know that being new parents is an exciting time but can also be daunting, and our goal is to come alongside them on the journey through parenthood. Hearing firsthand from startups allowed us to discover new products that ultimately will give our guests peace of mind and make their lives easier.”

The assortment of products available in the Connected Nursery section includes the Withings monitor, a baby monitor tied to an app that measures air quality so parents can be aware of allergens and moisture, the Kinsa Thermometer, an ear thermometer that uses an app to track symptoms and offer diagnoses, and Edwin the Duck, an app-connected all-in-one bath toy, night light, lullaby and storybook that aids sleep, development and fun.

There is also the MonBaby Smart Button, a device that tracks a baby’s breathing rate, movement level and sleep position, Temp Traq, a wireless patch that tracks a baby’s temperature and can alert parents about a fever, the Motorola Smart Environment Machine, a sleek-looking night light, sound machine and humidifier, and the Motorola scale, a scale and accompanying app that measures weight and length over time, including a percentage chart.
