Last week, PSFK and The Guardian presented a Good Ideas Salon at the Soho House in NYC, which focused on the past events, present issues and future possibilities of advertising. Moderated by George Parker of AdScam, the salon was split into two different panels.
The second part of the discussion features Dominico Vitale (Founder, PI&C), Gill Linton (Founder, The Joneses), and Alain Sylvain (Managing Director, RedScout), discussing the importance of creative strategy, the industry’s lack of connection with consumers, the use and over-use of terms such as “the big idea” and “branding”, and accountability. Watch the discussion below, and see part [...]

Yesterday, PSFK hosted a two panel Good Ideas Salon at Soho House in New York. Moderated by George Parker, our veteran (or “Old Geezer”) panel consisted of Curvin O’Reilly, Tom Messner and John Garland; and the emerging talent (or “Younger Geezer”) panel consisted of Domenico Vitale, Gill Linton and Alain Sylvain. We think with the contrast of ‘been there done that’ with the ‘doing something new’ it went rather well. Videos to follow.

PSFK recently conducted a review of global brands that are doing “good” in regards to innovation, environmental responsibility and social collaboration. From this exploration, we’ve created the Good Brands Report 2009.
We looked at the companies we were writing about on PSFK.com and then asked a panel of cross industry global experts from the Purple List to tell us which of 40 common brands on PSFK were considered ‘Good’. These companies represent businesses from which we should learn. They are not just the well-known brands of the day but also companies that lead by example. Beyond the top 10 Good Brands, [...]

PSFK is hosting a Good Ideas Salon on the morning of August 20 at Soho House with special guest George Parker. Good Ideas Salons are designed to bring likeminds together to share ideas and positivity around certain subjects.
For this salon, the topic is Good Ideas in Advertising and PSFK will invite two panels to debate how New York (and America’s) advertising industry needs to retool itself to become relevant and important again in business for the 21st century. The first panels will consist of industry veterans and this will be followed by new leaders from emerging creative agencies.

PSFK is happy to announce the publication of our newest book, PSFK Snapshot Brooklyn. From the more obscure corners of the borough to just off the G train, we’ve gathered over 40 of the most inspiring shops, restaurants, galleries, venues, movements and happenings from around the diverse neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York.
PSFK Snapshot Brooklyn was born of the same spirit as our website, PSFK.com and our last book, PSFK Good Ideas 2009. Our intention was to present the same creative, idea-generating content, this time drawing from a focused locale. Brooklyn, along with San Francisco, represent the first of many [...]

At PSFK Conference NYC, Colin Nagy (PSFK/Attention) led a discussion with Help Remedies‘ founder Richard Fine and Hello Health’s Dr. Jay Parkinson and Dr. Sean Khozin about “Building Healthy Brands With Heart”. The panel touched upon the different ways their ventures were setting out to innovate an industry resistant to change. Richard Fine talked about how Help Remedies is attempting to change the way we think about medicine and first aid. Richard’s aim with creating Help was to simplify medication, from packaging to ingredients. His range stands apart from the myriad “dual-action”/”24-hr relief”/”fast-acting” products on the market – most recognizably, [...]
