The Consumers Union has bought Consumerists &#8211; a site that championed shoppers&#8217; rights and highlighted corporate wrongdoing. Although it gained a large audience under Gawker stewardship, it failed to fit in with the networks plans (and maybe their revenue model) and therefore offered it up for sale back in November 08.
