We wrote recently about a secret underground climbing wall in Brooklyn and thought that this invention is the perfect solution for indoor climbing (hidden or not). The ClimbStation is a moving climbing wall that can takes a recent idea and put it into a sleek design package.
The device enables users to select a difficulty setting and then mount the wall without assistance. Sensors initiate the cycling forward of the wall once the user is comfortably making progress and will vary the speed based on the user’s proficiency and placement on the wall. In addition to live adjustments, the wall can [...]

Located in Shibuya, Tokyo, PekiPeki is an indoor bouldering center for adults and children. Separated into three floors, each bouldering wall presents visitors with a stark white wall and vibrant, colorful climbing grips, allowing climbers to concentrate more acutely on their route. The display is also gorgeous on its own—one can imagine each wall being presented identically at a gallery.

Designed by Arons & Gelauff Architects, the entire side of this nine-story dormitory in the Netherlands has been decked out with climbing grips and rappel lines. Apparently, it’s the second highest climbing wall in the Netherlands.
Built on the campus of the University of Enschede, which has a very active and successful mountaineering club, the building is also directly across from the athletic center.
