(Pic) Cubis Compact Packaging

Cubis is a packaging concept design which is claimed to be the world’s first stackable, fliptop plastic beverage container. Because of it’s cube shape, the Cubis takes up less space on store shelves, and transportation becomes more efficient (and therefore eco-friendly) as well.  The Cubis is also made out of recycled materials and can be used with one hand.  It’s scheduled to be released for use next month.

(Pic) Door Turns into a Ping-Pong Table

Tobias Franzel has created an interesting concept design that turns a regular household door into a ping-pong table. The playing area swivels out of the center of the door, and after a net is placed down, it’s good to go. Though perhaps not the most practical design in the world, the “Ping-Pong Door” is an interesting multi-purpose object that adds additional functionality where normally there would be none.

Flat Screen Hand Dryer & Sanitizer (Concept Design)

Flat Screen Hand Dryer & Sanitizer (Concept Design)

Industrial designers Jiang Qian and Chen Feijun have come up with an interesting concept-design hand dryer and sanitizer that’s about the size of a small flat-screen monitor. The machine will both dry off wet hands and disinfect them using an ozone generator. For good measure, they’ve made it solar-powered (though we’re not quite sure how the sunlight gets in the bathroom), and it’s small size makes it easy to hang.

Light Car Can Communicate With Other Drivers and is Recyclable

EDAG’s Light Car is poised to be a big hit at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This electric car can go 150km on a single charge, and is made of a lightweight basalt fiber (which is similar to carbon fiber or fiberglass) that is 100% recyclable. It gets its name from a unusual but potentially useful feature. A large portion of the cars body is covered in OLED lights which can be configured in a number of ways to communicate messages to other drivers beyond the standard brake and turn signals. Watch the promotional video on EDAG’s site for a [...]

Concept Cadillac Designed to Run for a 100 Years (without Refueling)

Concept Cadillac Designed to Run for a 100 Years (without Refueling)

Designer Loren Kulesus has created an audacious Cadillac concept car with the (theoretical) ability to run for 100 years without refueling or maintenance. Powered by a thorium based nuclear battery system, the car would actually generate enough surplus energy that it could be used to power a small neighborhood or recharge lots of other devices. This Batmobile looking car also has several systems in place that allow very precise handling including 24 automatically adjusted micro-wheels and a flexible, muscle-like body. Though we don’t know how feasible (or safe) the technology is behind this fantastic car, it looks like a great [...]
