It’s rare that we’re able to see our favorite rapper, musician or DJ showcase their athletic prowess in public- but in New York City this Wednesday, Converse is sponsoring the ”Band Of Ballers 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament” from noon to 5pm.
The teams will include a motly multi-genre mix of musicians and record labels including:  Jim Jones, Pac Div, Asher Roth, Mad Decent, Matt And Kim and Fool’s Gold.

Converse is about to add a new collaboration to it’s list, which also includes fashion luminaries Thom Browne and John Varvatos. For their Spring / Summer collection, the iconic shoe company will be rolling out a new capsule line with Italian fashion house Missoni, known for their trademark zig-zag knits and bold colors. At last Saturday’s Missoni menswear show in Milan, attendants were able to get a first look at the high fashion high tops Missoni when they were modeled by Missoni founder Tai Missoni.

In the past year, Converse has made a big push in China to brand itself with the emerging indie music scene.  In August 2008, Converse sponsored two well-known indie rock bands from Beijing to travel the country by bus and play concerts in 5 cities.  The tour, dubbed Lovenoise, is considered the first rock ‘n roll bus tour in China and was engineered by PSFK friend Nick Barham and his team at W+K Shanghai.
