Alexander McQueen Creates Dark Films for his Spring/Summer Collection

Following the success of Dior’s recent video campaign featuring Marion Cotillard, avante guard fashion enfante terrible,  Alexander McQueen has teamed up with David Sims to create a series of dark, sometime disturbing fashion shorts exploring the creative process. In these films (which are reminiscent of psychological dramas like Memento and 2001) McQueen hopes to do more than just present his wares in an aesthetically pleasing way- but to also challenge the viewers to think about the painstaking process of having an artistic vision realized.

First Chapter of Dior Video Ad Campaign Released

Yesterday, Dior came out with the first chapter of it’s Lady Dior viral short: The Lady Noire Affair, featuring Le Vie en Rose star Marion Cotillard and director Olivier Dahan. The film begins in true film noire fashion with a man being held captive by gangsters, a beautiful brunette in distress, and ominous men in trench coats discussing the fate of our heros. However, the short is given a distinctly French twist with beautiful panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower, and a sense of suspense reminiscent of Alphaville-era Goddard. Dior's Lady Noire Affair

To build anticipation and increase demand for their new handbag, Dior have embarked on an unusual promotional activity. They have started a Twitter account that will reveal one clue a day till the 20th of May about a short film to be released next week. All we have been able to gather so far is that the film, a mystery, is directed by Olivier Dahan and stars Marion Cotillard. It is titled The Lady Noire Affair and is ‘a tribute to the elegant heroines in Hitchcock movies’.
