Agency Pink Slips Inspire Lemonade
Agency laid you off? Make Lemonade.
That’s exactly what Eric Proulx did when he was laid off from his copywriting job. He launched his own blog as a support system for ad agency creatives and the overwhelming response inspired the idea for Lemonade. The short documentary candidly tells the story of former directors, designers, and writers from the instant they were fired and what came next. Each person describes how their dismissal dramatically changed their life. The time to pursue life-long dreams ranging from painting to holistic healing became new sources of creativity. Lemonade will be released for free online in late [...]

Wallspace*: The Curated Virtual Pinboard
Wallpaper Magazine has created a new minisite called Wallspace* and has invited creatives to share the personal things that inspire them.
We make no bones of the fact that we enjoy rummaging through the more personal spaces of the creative folk whose work we admire. Be it imagining what their desks might look like, touring their studios or photographing their homes – any glimpse of life behind the scenes is interesting fodder for understanding what inspires, entertains and ultimately drives their work.
Now we’ve gone one step further and built a space for said creatives to fill with the things they hold [...]

Mark Earls on Why Good Ideas Matter at the Good Ideas Salon London
This past January, PSFK hosted the Good Ideas Salon London. Starting the day off, Mark Earls, author of Herd, began by discussing the importance of gathering inspiration across categories, market sectors, and groups – and ultimately, how to turn those insights into mass change. Effectively, Mark explains why innovation is important.
Mark Earls stressed that innovation is an exercise that needs to be practiced. The mere process of looking for new ideas allows you to challenge whether or not your existing ones are any good. Even if a new idea is not perfect, it can still shine a new light on [...]

What’s Your Inspiration? PSFK Talks to the Founders of Fat Muffin
Inspiration can strike at any time, but it’s often hard to find. So how do creatives bake up ideas? And can they cater to all clients equally (and on time)?
Sometimes, even the best chef orders out. That’s the premise behind Fat Muffin a “creative playground where users get paid to play.” Started last year by Rahul Panchal (creative) and Jonathan Sadlowe (strategy), the start-up aims to crowdsource advertising (a model that his since been mimicked by some larger shops).
