Apps Market As Big As The Web
A couple of weeks ago I suggested in a post that the application market could grow to be as large as the web and that we shouldn’t be wondering when the ‘boom’ was going to end. Now, commentators on a panel at the VentureBeat’s MobileBeat conference have suggested that the number of apps will grow by 100,000 a year and that in ten years we may see 10 billion mobile applications. The BBC reports:

One Year On, 56,000 iPhone Apps
A year after the launch of Apple’s application store, some 56,000 applications are now available for users of the iPhone and iPod Touch. While several commentators wonder when this boom will end, the PSFK team thinks that asking that type of question is a little like asking when the number of websites would stop growing back in 1994. Apps are the new website, no? Some apps are going to be tremendously popular and others will potter along with a few downloads but still keeping their makers’ happy.

Kindle’s Not Working
I originally drafted a post about the Kindle about a month ago but I thought I was being mean – so I let it sit and stew for a while. The release of the Apple 3.0 and some recent comments by Jeff Jarvis has made me dust it off with a quick update:
So there it is sat on my desk with a dead battery – 8 weeks after I bought the second generation ebook reader direct from Amazon. Unused, unloved, unnecessary. I feel like I’ve wasted my money.

iPhone For Business
Probably one of the biggest criticisms that the iPhone gets is that it’s not considered to be the best phone for business. That judgement is based on the comparison on the keyboard and email functionality with the Blackberry.
