Sustainability, explained Simon, is not just about creating eco-friendly products; it’s also about making thoughtful choices as a consumer, too (buying blue jeans that last, for example). Sarah expanded on that idea, explaining that focusing on sustainability means seeking out high-quality products and services – things that maintain value and meaning over time.
We’re looking forward to having Matthew Lusk (Hecho, Inc) join us at our upcoming PSFK Conference NYC 2009. Matthew will be on a panel moderated by Dave Pinter (PSFK, GRID2) and that includes Ryan Jacoby (IDEO), Simon Collins (Parsons) and Sarah Beatty (Green Depot), and which will touch upon how sustainable, economic and socially conscious issues are driving the design of new products and services. First, who are you and what do you do? I’m a sculptor living in Brooklyn. I moved to New York shortly after receiving my MFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.Read more...
