Last week’s article that highlighted the number of ads and promotions the Monocle team had developed with brands brought a lot of discussion. After we highlighted 10 examples of ‘advertorial’ with brands like BMW and Diageo, PSFK readers gave their feedback on the issue.

Monocle Magazine must have decided that the small stuff-for-the-creative-classist store they set up in London’s Marylebone must have been a success because they now have plans to launch stores in the US and Japan. The first will open in Brentwood, Los Angeles, at 225 26th Street then stores will also open in New York and Tokyo. Fashion Week Daily reports:
The Brentwood location of The Monocle Shop at 225 26th Street, Suite 19b, will feature new collaborations between the brand and designers, like the Comme des Garçons’ Hinoki candle, a unique sweatshirt from Tomorrowland, and a high-tech running kit created with [...]

Monocle, the magazine which became a shop has now extended to a weekly audio broadcast. Yesterday the first installment of the half hour show debuted. The program will feature a mix of smart discussion, previews, field reports and feature interviews. The show will focus on the horizon and explore the looming stories within the five areas that define the magazine’s editorial agenda: global affairs, business, culture, design and consumer culture. The show is hosted by editor in chief Tyler Brûlé.
The launch program takes a look ahead at the global landscape for 2009. From Oslo Martin Skancke, director general of Norway’s [...]
