Why Social Media Won’t Save Madison Avenue!
“Simply because it will be impossible for online advertising and social media to deliver everything that is expected of it. The stark reality is that advertising on the Internet is not going to grow; it’s actually going to decrease.”

MySpace Hopes to Become a Window for Youth Culture
While many have written off MySpace as an ailing behemoth of social networks past, the site is hoping to reanimate their users by defining the site as a new platform for venting creativity. Echoing their early days as a community of young bands, MySpace wants to reposition itself as a place for young creatives, rather than a disorganized collection of companies, bands and individuals all spamming one another.
Creating a tighter demographic will certainly put a direction on the site, but it remains to be seen if it can compete with the readily updated features on Facebook. Anastasia from Ypulse predicts [...]

George Parker: It Isn’t About Reach, It’s About Rejection!
In case you hadn’t realized it, I am a multi-tasking, uber-achieving prince of the blogosphere… Meaning that apart from writing this weekly column for psfk, I also write a US blog, a UK one, and I also bore the shit out of people with various articles and books. The rest of the time I drink, smoke and am generally obnoxious. Anyway, I do have a certain propensity to piss people off when I rant about what I consider to be the slavish insanities of users of such phenomena as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. Please don’t get me wrong here; I [...]

Muxtape Officially Relaunches as Music Promotion Site
Muxtape, the formally popular and defunct mixtape site, officially relaunched last week with its new service for promoting bands. With a tiny primary library of 12 bands, including Girl Talk and Reggie Watt, the simple layout is looking to expand for any bands willing to give it a go.
Muxtape comes from humble beginnings and endured a lengthy losing struggle against the RIAA. The site originally allowed users to create short playlists from their own MP3s and share them with others. Aside from appearances, the new Muxtape carries few resemblances to the mixtape format that made it popular. It is essentially [...]
