With Season 3 of Mad Men premiering last night, a renewed interest in all things retro – the fashion, the lingo, the drinks – can be expected to tighten its grip on popular culture. The Mad Men wave might also leave in its wake an increased curiosity for the advertising that the series celebrates.
WebUrbanist features a comprehensive collection of the product of the Golden Age of Advertising – beginning in the 50’s, a bit before the 60’s hey day that Mad Men takes place in – and highlights some of the key historical incidents that affected consumers’ psyche and [...]

Those with both a fistful of money to burn on an iPhone app and deep nostalgia for retro Hewlitt Packard calculators may be a slim cohort, but if they’re out there, HP has them covered. Two vintage designs—the HP 12C financial calculator and HP 15C scientific calculator—have been carefully rendered via touchscreen, costing $15 and $30 respectively. There’s no doubt the buttons are wonderful looking, and the nerd chic aesthetic has its charms, but we would advise waiting for the price to drop a bit before replacing the iPhone’s already more than adequate built-in calculator.

If you’ve ever wanted to downplay the pedigree of your iPhone, whether for security purposes, or just as a throwback fashion statement, check out the zweiPhone stickers. Artist/designer S1M has created a set of limited edition removable decals featuring iconic cell phones of the past. They’re made to be stuck on the back of an iPhone or iPod Touch to add a bit of design history and patina to the sleek, blank super-phone.
