Ron English is a contemporary pop artist who explores brand imagery and advertising. Widely considered to be a founding member of the Culture Jamming movement, English is known for ‘liberating’ commercial billboards with his own messages. Frequently targeting Joe Camel, Ronald McDonald and Mickey Mouse; English manipulates the corporation’s iconographies to be used against themselves.
Abject Expressionism is English’s first comprehensive hard cover book covering 20 years of his career, from staged photography to neo-Surrealist oil paintings to street art.
