The “future dining table” designed by Petr Kubik is a multi-purpose kitchen appliance that combines the functions of cooking and eating in the form of the familiar dining room table.

The table has hidden compartments to store your food and appliances, and the surface OLED changes from opaque to transparent to reveal the refrigerated food underneath. Different foods are compartmentalized and drinks can be retrieved from the centre core. A mini-dish washer, toaster, micro-wave, coffee maker are stored underneath the inner circle. The Impress brings a richer tactile experience to the touch screen. A concept design by DIS.PLAY, it’s a touchscreen with an additional layer of soft, flexible foam. It takes away the rigidity of a traditional touchscreen and enables a more robust interaction with data presented onscreen. Impress has all the regular features of a touchscreen with the extra parameter of pressure, enabling users to literally squeeze out information and form and mold three dimensional objects. PSFK got the chance to visit the new Google Maps powered New York City information center this weekend, and overall it’s a very cool experience. The space has a clean, minimalist feel. It’s a kind of spaceship-modern, mostly white interior interspersed with neat rows of brochures and colorful glowing screens, which come to life with when touched.

It’s surprising that touch screen vending machines haven’t showed up sooner, but they’re now on their way to a mall near you. Recently debuted at CES, the Sapient designed Samsung uVending machines feature a huge, fully featured touchscreen which uses animations and interactive menus to assist and enrich your soda ordering experience.
