The main tank at Okinawa’s Churaumi Aquarium in Japan holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water behind the world’s second largest acrylic glass pane (8.2 meters by 22.5 meters). Known as the ‘Kuroshio Sea,’ the tank houses whale sharks and manta rays among a plethora of fish. Jon Rawlinson recorded a mesmerizing video of the tank, set to the music of Barcelona.

In cities across the world, the food cart has classically been a source for authentic, reasonably priced culinary discoveries for the mobile masses curious enough to take the plunge.
While blogs such as Midtown Lunch (based in NYC) and Food Carts Portland delve deeper into the cart culture of their respective cities, VendrTV is a web series that takes you across America and looks at the most interesting and delicious portable fare.
Each episode runs a 7-10 minutes, and is hosted by the curious and exuberant Daniel Delaney, a Philadelphia-based entrepreneur who clearly has a passion for mobile eats – he conceptualized [...]

Last week we came across this music video/ advertisement for Taco Bell (created by DraftFCB), a riff on Diddy’s 1990s anthem,It’s All About the Benjamins“. The commercial, entitled “It’s All About the Roosevelts”, seems to have drawn inspiration from the popular Lazy Sunday” skit featured on SNL four years ago, a self-parodizing rap video about the banal lives of Chris Parnell and Adam Samberg.
SNL’s characters rap self-seriously (but in actuality, self-deprecatingly) about the boring details of their daily lives, from visiting cupcake bakeries to finding directions on the Internet. The comedic effect is a result of a combined dissonance; it’s [...]

We may have survived the MTV Generation with our attention spans mostly intact, but it appears the same can’t be said for the age of the Internet, where competing streams of information, multi-tasking and multiple screens are dissecting our withering focus into easily digestible bits. Add in our increased need for immediacy, and an old-fashioned idea like the narrative starts to seem a bit obsolete.
Nowhere is this more evident perhaps, than in the way we consume video online, where the average attention span is three to five minutes, hardly enough time for a classic tale filled with fleshed out characters, [...]

Artist Jonathan Harris has just announced the release of an interesting project he’s been working on over the last two tears with Sputnik, Inc., a NYC-based nonprofit dedicated to documenting, archiving and disseminating ideas that are shaping contemporary culture. Named Sputnik Observatory, the project is a fascinating collection of inter-connected video interviews with hundreds of leading thinkers in the arts, sciences and technology.
As one might expect, the conversations are organized into typical categories such as speaker name and subject matter, but what makes this site’s design a bit more revelatory than the standard fare, is extra functionality that enables users to easily navigate [...]
