The upcoming Spike Jonze send up of the classic children’s story just got a downtown make-over, as hipster fashion mecca Opening Ceremony recently rolled out a new collaborative effort featuring apparel inspired by the film as well as jewelry by Pamela Love.

Coinciding with the theatrical release of “Where The Wild Things Are”, the Animazing Gallery in Soho NYC is presenting the world’s largest exhibition and sale of Maurice Sendak’s illustrations.

The crew from Where The Wild Things Are have opened their own pop-up shop at Space 15 Twenty in Los Angeles.

In this short ‘featurette’ Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze speak about the forthcoming film version of the iconic children’s book Where The Wild Things Are. Although there is limited information about it, the film has already got a lot of buzz online as spectators are excited to see how Jonze has brought Sendak’s book to life. In fact, Sendak remarks in the clip that Jonze has managed to make a ‘peculiar’ film in keeping with the book.

The film open in the US on October 16.

There is a ton of anticipation over Spike Jonze’s upcoming reimagining of the classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are, and now enthusiasts can own a little piece of the magic. Medicom has produced a set of Where the Wild Things Are figurines, including a range of wild things creatures as well as the hero Max himself. The vinyl toys will be available in Fall 2009 – just in time for the movie release.

We mentioned last week that we were looking forward to the Spike Jonze film Where The Wild Things Are, an adaptation of a favorite children’s classic. Well, here’s the first trailer we’ve seen for the film:

There’s some gentle buzz about the film-adaptation of the children’s book Where The Wild Things Are. Directed by Spike Jonze and the screen play was co-written by the director and Dave Eggers. It comes out in the US on October 16 2009.
