It's that time again where we get inundated by the media reporting on that dodgy report known to all as Interbrand's Top 100 Global Brands. Top 5: CocaCola, Microsoft, IBM, GE, Intel all ranked on something called Brand Value. We wonder where real top brands are. Where, for example, is ‘New York'?

What does this all mean? Not much – it's a PR exercise for Interbrand, and a sales exercise for BusinessWeek – but check it out anyway.
