The FRONTIERSPACE international design competition put on by SPACEAGENCY invited architects, artists, designers and design students to submit innovative design proposals to rethink an existing space in Vancouver, BC Canad–the alleyways in historic Gastown. There were over 30 entries with the grand prize awarded to Satoshi Matsuoka and Yuki Tamura of Matsuokasatoshitamurayuki in Tokyo, Japan for their entry “Balloon Caught” for their unique solution which effectively used scale, space and contrast to engage the entire alleyway in a festive way using huge white fabric balloons suspended across Trounce Alley. The exhibit is open to the public August 18th – 20th from 9am – 6pm so you can go see first hand the scale of the winning entry as well as the other entries on display, or view the photos here.Copyright 2005 Industrial Brand Creative
