When TV shows, movies, magazines ect….get translated to the US market from the UK, the track record has been bleak. Think The Office, Elle Decor [vs the much hipper Decoration], you get the idea. Back a year or so ago, I happened upon a new title at the news stand that I was sure had been developed just for me. It was the automotive equivalent to a fashion magazine aptly named Intersection.

The first few issues were very good and focused on car culture from an aesthetic and fashion lifestyle angle. But then issues became harder and harder to find. I tried to subscribe and got no where. But a few months ago, there appeared a lone issue with a card inside announcing the coming of an american version of the magazine. Oh no, was my first reaction….surely this one is buried. Yesterday I picked up the premier issue of the ‘new’ magazine and am pleased to report it hasn’t lost a thing from the original. There are a few repeat articles from past issues, but all in all, it’s a good translation. It appears our friends at Surface magazine are behind the effort. You can subscribe for only $10 a year currently. Worth a look even if you don’t have gears in your head like me.
