Tom Samiljan at Style.com writes a summary of the trends he sees in the mobile space after visiting CITA Wireless 2006. His suggestions include:

  • Live Video, Ready for Prime Time: ” Unlike the choppy, grainy Daily Show clips you can watch on your cell now, the new video services will allow for instantaneous channel-surfing and will eventually incorporate TiVo-like DVR features and program guides.”
  • DIY Content Goes Mobile: Services allow you to post embarrassing pictures and movies from your mobile to sites like Flickr.com and Webshots. Others will let customers upload photos, send messages, and post blog entries right from a handset.
  • GPS Arrives: “Booty calls are about to get a lot more sophisticated, thanks to GPS-enabled dating services that let you instantly find that someone special (or help them find you) within, say, a ten-mile radius of your present location.”
