Know for both his larger than life and unusually small sculptures, Australian born Ron Mueck's extraordinarily lifelike renderings of people are surreal.  He currently has a solo display at the Brooklyn Museum including five major new works commissioned by the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain in Paris as well as some older pieces, such as Dead Dad, a smaller than life-size tribute to Mueck's dead father.

Mueck began his career making puppets for children's television, including a stint with Jim Henson and Sesame Street, and while his recent projects may be more realistic, they are no less strange than any talking muppet.
