Brand Republic reports on Conde Nast's new venture into the Indian market with the debut next year of an Indian edition of Vogue. Launching in Autumn 2007, this will be the 17th edition of Vogue to be published, and is due to be follwed by local editions of other CN titles (possibly Glamour, Vanity Fair and GQ). In the words of Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Conde Nast International "Vogue is just the beginning."

Also due in the Indian market within the next two years are National Geographic, Conde Nast Traveller, Fortune and The Economist, as magazine publishers realise the growth potential in advertising revenue due to India's many product-hungry new-money spenders. And with an English-speaking population of 350 million, that's a market where even Vogue can make a profit!
