Verbus’ Modular Hotel for Travelodge UK
Currently under construction in Uxbridge (opening in June) and Heathrow Airport (set for completion by the end of 2008), the modular hotel design system developed by Verbus and Travelodge UK offers a quick, low cost alternative to standard building construction. Verbus’ shipping container-like modules are designed to be built, taken down, moved, and reused in a matter of months, ideal for cities that need a cheaper -and speedier- housing solution. Each stackable steel unit includes a bedroom, bathroom (with plumbing) and all the appropriate wiring required for connection with other modules. The units are bolted together and then furbished with exterior cladding once ready-to-go, but can be dismantled and used at the next mod-hotel.
