Nickelodeon seems to have figured out the right balance of online-network TV integration with its hugely popular show and website iCarly, which now accounts for 18% of the kid network’s internet traffic, according to internal figures. The show and accompanying website chronicle the adventures of fake webcaster Carly Shay, played by Miranda Cosgrove. Since its launch in September, the television show has attracted more than 3.6 million viewers, and iCarly the site drew 2.7 million unique visitors in February alone. The tech-savvy tween encourages her fans to play games, blog, and make their own webshows (some of which are integrated into Carly’s own webcast) – and so far nearly 100,000 user-generated videos have already been uploaded.
