Park rangers from the Ol Pejeta wildlife sanctuaries of Kenya have been using SMS to keep their elephants in check. Using GPS technology and online tracking programs like GoogleEarth rangers receive an SMS when elephants stray from the virtual park boundaries.  With agricultural land creeping closer to park boundaries keeping tabs on park elephants is vital for park and local inhabitants.  Ol Pejeta is also monitoring lions and leopards.
