Homage
Homage is a progressively minded skateboard shop on Smith Street in Carroll Gardens that’s become the center for the young skate community in the area. Navigate past the crew of neighborhood kids practicing tricks on the sidewalk and you’ll find a nice assortment of decks, shoes, clothes, videos and gear with none of the anticipated attitude. The staff is friendly and funny, on-site repairs are free and lessons are offered for beginners. For a quick break, pop over to Homage’s tiny cafe next door, which offers Mud coffee, vegan muffins and house-made banana pudding, among other treats.
