About a year ago the Media Standards Trust, the Orwell Trust and Political Quarterly decided to publish the diaries of author and journalist George Orwell day by day between 1938 and 1942. For a long time Orwell seemed to be more interested in the number of eggs his chickens were producing or the berries on his bushes but as the diaries have moved into late 1939 the daily posts include detailed note taking of the events at the beginning of World War II.

By reading each day his notes and clippings daily you get an extraordinary view of the political maneuvering that took place between many countries involved in the war – and you can compare the inter-relationship of nations today with that time. Add it your RSS feed and watch the War unfold from a different view point.
