After a decade of research, The Wildlife Conservation Society has put together “The Mannahatta Project” which provides an in-depth look at the island of Manhattan as it was circa 1609. The ecology and wildlife of the area is explored through an exhibition at the Museum Of The City Of New York, as well as in events and lectures around the city, and a great interactive map (by Google Maps) that shows New York city as a lush, green forest.
