The Expressen newspaper reports that a school nurse in Gothenburg, Sweden has stopped giving pain killers to students. Instead, she puts them to bed and lets them listen to a relaxation CD. After seeing how younger and younger students are affected by stress, showing up at her clinic with sleeping problems, stomach aches and migraines, the nurse started to offer one alternative only – relaxation. The treatment, which takes 45 minutes, has students lie down on a bed, covered with a blanket and a pair of earphones. A voice then explains how to relax their muscles and breathe with the stomach, as well as playing harmonious music and telling stories. According to the students it is a very effective method.
