A new location tracking application for the iPhone called Stalqer is about to launch in the US. The app runs in the background and broadcasts your location to your friends automatically every 15 minutes.

Stalqer lets you import your Facebook friends, via Facebook Connect, so that you can see where any friends who are also running the app are. Stalqer can also show the location of friends who aren't signed up, grabbing public information off their profile like “City”.

Apart from the regular map view of users' location, Stalqer also features an augmented reality view: users can see the location of their friends superimposed over their surroundings when they look through the mobile phone's camera.
