The Opening Cermony store in New York has been one of the most important, avant-garde fashion retailers in New York. As it’s popularity has grown, retailers including TopShop have partnered with them to share their brand’s energy and imagination. Their success has led to expansion and when we were in Tokyo recently, we had the opportunity to explore their new store there.

Unlike the Soho loft-like space that the original store occupies in New York, this store is a glam and neon department store packed full of storytelling and humor. We found the clothes are playfully presented, the showcases are surreal and the changing rooms are small experiences of wonder all by themselves (check the gold booth in the photo for an example). Here is a mix of photos we took from our visit and a few from the LA based interior designers Commune Design.
