Ady Gil is the latest weapon against illegal whaling.  The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s speedy ocean defence vessel recently took out the world record for global circumnavigation.  Reaching speeds of 50 knots, the Andy Gil’s main function will be to intercept and block harpoons from illegal whalers within Antarctic regions, south of Australia.  Launching in early December with another SSCS ship – the ‘Steve Irwin’, the Bond-esque vessel will patrol the Southern Ocean for Sea Shepherds sixth whale defence campaign, as part of ‘Operation Waltzing Matilda’.
