Like GoogleMaps, NearMap offers a birds-eye view of searched locations, but instead of using satellite technology, the website utilises photomaps. Maps are created from high-resolution images shot from planes flying at around 7000ft, and unlike GoogleMaps, the maps are updated every month. Another useful feature is the TimeView function – a timeline of shots taken, offering quick an easy access to geographical changes in the area. Better still, the West-Australian-based business encourages the creation of Creative Commons licensed information using PhotoMap content.
