Special Comix (aka: SC), one of China’s leading independent comic book collectives, recently released their third compilation volume titled SC3. The book features stories from 45 of China’s leading illustrators and comic book artists in a massive 640 page book.

We recently caught up with “Storyof,” one of the editors of SC3, to talk about the new book, the SC comic collective, and what’s in store for the future.

Every time we read SC, we feel a sense of excitement not only because we love the stories, but because they represent the collective potential of China’s independent comic book artists. As one of the editors of SC, how do you characterize Chinese independent comic book artists? Why have artists with such different styles and stories all banded together within one book?
