The UK government has decided to release sets of data for developers to work with to create applications and other services.

Following leads set by the cities of San Francisco and New York, the UK government has decided to release sets of data for developers to work with to create applications and other services. The types of data includes everything from Abandoned Vehicles to Years of Life Lost to Lung cancer.

The data.gov.uk site also lists a number of apps already using the data including the Renewable & Alternative Energy Map which plots Britain's eco-energy plants.
