Carnivorous Domestic Entertainment Robots offer solution for autonomously fueled design.

“Carnivorous Domestic Entertainment Robots” was one of the projects up for an award at Transmediale, Berlin’s foremost festival of media arts and culture. Designed by Auger-Loizeau and Zivanovic, the prototypes not only take their cue from biological archetypes in their design but seek to utilize unwanted living organisms as fuel.

Here, a lamp attracts mosquitoes and insects through the it’s special bulb. The mosquito enters the lamp through the holes in the lamp shade and are zapped by the light. Their bodies fall to the bottom of the stand where they are subsequently recycled and utilized to fuel the lamp, making an autonomously powered lamp.
