Yuki-taro is a self-guided GPS-aware and camera-equipped snowmobile robot that can clear snow from streets while intelligently maneuvering around obstacles. Snow is compressed into manageable  igloo-like blocks that are easy to stack away from traffic. Currently being developed in Niigata, Japan, the creators anticipate the machine to be commercially available in approximately five years.
