Pew Charitable Trusts has published a report this week, naming China the largest investor in clean energy investments and finance in 2009. With respect to the size of their economy, Brazil, the United Kingdom and China reportedly invested more than three times that of the United States last year, with Brazil’s research funding five times that of the States. The Pew Report named green energy research as one of the biggest economic – and environmental opportunities of the 21st century, surpassing the oil and gas industries which; “experienced investment declines of 19 percent in 2009, according to the International Energy Agency’s 2009 World Energy Outlook.”
