Achievement First Endeavor Middle School, a charter school for grades 5 through 8 in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn recently got a fresh interior design from New York City based Pentagram. All that was needed for the project came in a can.

Collaborating with Rogers Marvel Architects who designed the school as a refurbishment and expansion of an existing building, Pentagram proposed an economical solution using only paint.  Inspiration came from a series of motivational slogans used by the teaches at the school which were turned into stickers for the students. Pentagram referenced the slogans and color palette of the stickers and created huge interior graphics that cover the walls. The graphics become part of the architecture and help the building become a participant in the learning process: celebrating language, “talking” to students, encouraging them to do better, creating a unique environment they can call their own.
