Those who cycle have had a lot of things to be joyful about; from the Velib bike-share program sweeping cities around the globe, to various innovations regarding the mechanics of the modern bike.  Google is no stranger to new products, and more importantly, new ways of getting from point A to point B, both on and offline.  Google Maps have added a ‘by bike’ route within the “Get Directions” option.  Similar to the public transport option, where times and prices of nearby buses or subways can be plotted, Google has added stats around the numbers of hills encountered,  and fatigue over time lapsed.  After a partnership with Rails-to-Trails, Google has brought information on city’s bike trails right to anyone planning a trip.
