Anya Kamenetz is the author of the book, Generation Debt which talks about the increase in student aid resulting from the growth of college classes.

Anya recently wrote another book, DIY U which shows a new way to provide the benefits of higher education to the people who need it. The book speaks about a new model of higher education where college students can create their own personalized course of study.

In an interview to Salon, she spoke about the reasons for college tuition fees and outstanding student loans in the US getting out of control, why competency based schools may be the way forward, her thoughts on open courseware and how the American higher education model can take some inspiration from the UK higher education system.
