We’ve been tracking the growth of the guerilla gardening movement -“illegal” planting in neglected public spaces – for a while now, and it appears the rebellious efforts have finally gone mainstream. Cincinnati-based design studio VisuaLingual has started selling its special brand of bespoke seed bombs at Anthropologie stores throughout the US. The handmade “bombs” have been created with specially selected species of wildflower for each region of the country, and because they’re already embedded in soil, don’t require actual planting. The project is an interesting evolution of the numerous artist-brand collaborations that we’ve seen, pushing the notion of consumer purchasing power into the realms of socially-responsible products by way of playful disruption.
