Steve Simpson over at AdWeek has an interesting column about the future of the book, titled “Rewriting the book – New technology may finally bring advertising to the world of book publishing.” It's an interesting read, unfortunately, I disagree with about ninety percent of it.

His major point is that with the launch of the iPad, soon to be followed by a bunch of me-too products (but without the anointment of the GodJobs, holy hand touching) the embattled and archaic publishing industry will quickly seize the new technologies to reimagine both products and their business model. Sorry Steve, it ain't gonna happen… Well let me put it this way, they'll have a go at it, but based on their track record, they'll completely fuck it up.
